The Chicago White Sox are 46-42 on the season, and currently tied atop that American League Central Division with the rival Cleveland Guardians. After winning their game on Saturday, the White Sox reclaimed a tie for first place, and hold the tiebreaker over their rivals. The outcomes of Sunday’s game will determine who enters the new week of play in the AL Central lead.
It really is astounding that Chicago is in this position at this point in the season. Prior to the start of the year, no one thought they were anywhere close to contending for a postseason spot. And when Munetaka Murakmi went down with a hamstring strain, the belief was that their early winning ways would come to an end without him.

After the White Sox got off to a strong start to the season, Murakami received a great deal of credit for propelling the team to victory. When he went down, many thought that they were not going to be able to keep pace in the American League Central.
But they have. What is more, they gained ground on Cleveland and ended up overtaking them in the standings. And now, Murakami is nearing his return:
Munetaka Murakami is supposed to run today and if all goes well, he will travel to @KnightsBaseball Monday for injury rehab. Could rejoin the White Sox at some point this week if all goes well.

As one can see from the post above, if Murakami responds well to running today, he will head out on a rehab assignment. At that point, it would only be a matter of days until he is able to return to Chicago’s lineup.
In 57 games played this season, Murakami is hitting .240/.378/.560 with 20 home runs and 41 RBI.
