Caitlin Clark will be watching from the sidelines on Sunday when the Indiana Fever face off against the Las Vegas Aces.
The three-time All-Star will miss a second straight game due to a nagging back injury. This is also the same issue that forced her to sit out one game earlier in the season.
Clark re-aggravated her back on June 24 against the Phoenix Mercury. She got fouled on a three-point attempt, causing her to take a hard fall. The 24-year-old was forced to sit out Indiana’s 111-87 win against the Los Angeles Sparks. She will be cheering for her teammates on Sunday as they look to improve on their 11-8 record.

It was Clark herself who told reporters on Friday that she will be sitting out Sunday’s contest. She also noted that her goal is to be ready for Indiana’s upcoming back-to-back set against the Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Fever head coach Stephanie White confirmed this timetable. The former WNBA Coach of the Year is optimistic that Clark will be ready to go for their upcoming games.
“I think that’s the goal,” White told reporters on Friday during practice. “Again, one day at a time. Make sure that when you go out there, you don’t have any symptoms or any challenges or any setbacks.
“You evaluate the same day or the next day. So that’s the goal. But again, we’ll continue to take it one day at a time.”
White did not guarantee that Clark will be back on the floor against either the Sparks or the Mercury, but she was cautiously optimistic about the possibility.
The Fever coach also provided an update on Clark’s status in practice, noting that Friday was the first time she had rejoined her teammates after a few days off.
“It’ll be [her] first day back,” White said. “It should be modified. We’ll go through some stuff with her on the floor, and then hopefully we’ll see what happens. If we can continue to progress and get more ingrained in practice, we’ll do that.”
