Guatemala volcano eruption forces hundreds to flee ash, gas and lava

In Guatemala, authorities have declared a red alert – the most severe danger warning – in areas affected by the eruption of the Fuego Volcano, located about 35 kilometers from the country’s capital. The alert covers the areas of Sacatepéquez, Chimaltenango, and Escuintla, home to around 1.6 million people. Story by Charlotte Hughes.
