Angel Reese turns emotional after Atlanta Dream loss

On Monday, Angel Reese and the Atlanta team saw their five-game winning streak snap. The Las Vegas Aces defeated them via a 109-87 blowout at State Farm Arena. It was a tough loss, especially for the three-time All-Star as she delivered a strong performance.

Reese finished with 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting, along with 16 rebounds and two assists. Rhyne Howard backed her with 19 points and two assists, but they couldn’t extend their winning run to six games. Atlanta dropped to sixth in the standings with an 18-11 record.

Jackie Young led the defending champions with a triple-double. She registered 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while A’ja Wilson produced 23 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Angel Reese posts emotional message after Dream’s loss to Aces

Reese posted an emotional message on X following the defeat. She thanked Atlanta fans for showing up at the venue to support the team and wearing pink. The 24-year-old added that she hopes they continue to cheer for Atlanta.

“Even though we didn’t get the win, thank you to everyone who came out yesterday. Seeing an entire arena PINK for my very own Barbie was truly a dream come true. Since I’ve been in ATL, y’all have shown me nothing but love, and I’m so thankful for it. Keep showing up & supporting this team. #GoDream,” Reese wrote.

The LSU product has embraced her “Bayou Barbie” nickname and Mattle recognized her with her own doll. The company honors her for her influence in sports and announced their collaboration on July 24. She made it known that the doll represents young girls who want to be seen. It features Barbie’s signature style and her Reebok Angel Reese 1 sneakers.

Reese and the Dream will next face the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday at Gateway Center Arena. They have their sights set on getting back on track against the struggling visitors.
