Stephanie White played an integral role in the Indiana Fever turning its season around. They started 5-5 but have since piled on wins to achieve a 21-12 record. Her players did an admirable job of blocking the outside noise to get where they’re at now.
The veteran head coach faced criticism throughout the season. Fans called her out for not supporting her players, particularly Sophie Cunningham. It stemmed from her postgame interview on Saturday after DiJonai Carrington hit the guard on her head. Referees issued a Flagrant 2 foul on the Chicago Sky star and ejected her late in the first quarter. White addressed reporters on Tuesday and delivered a strong message for her critics.
Indiana has consistently been under the microscope for their on-court performances and activities off of it. However, the team continues to play through all the distractions and remains focused on their goal of winning a title.

White expressed pride in how her players have not allowed outside noise to affect their games. She also highlighted that remain intact and united.
“These women are playing incredible basketball, and they deserve to be celebrated for that,” White said. “And I give them a ton of credit. Winners focus on winning, and that’s what they’re doing. They’re winners in that locker room. They pull for each other. You guys are here a lot, you see it’s good vibes.
“It’s everybody else that wants to divide us, our team, our league. As somebody who’s been around for a long, long time in this league, I’m tired of it. And I know that we as teams stand united in how we feel about this, and we’ve just got to stay the course.”
White and Co. will play their next game on Friday when they host the Dallas Wings. A four-game road trip follows, starting with a matchup with the Atlanta Dream on Sunday.
