‘Proud of You’: Caitlin Clark sends heartfelt message to Fever teammate after big win

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever secured their fourth straight win on Sunday. She led the way for the team in the 95-91 win, but also received strong contributions from her teammates like Makayla Timpson.

The three-time All-Star guard recorded a team-high 26 points along with three rebounds and nine assists. Timpson and Kelsey Mitchell each scored 20 points each, and Aliyah Boston amassed 16 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. The Fever have now won nine of their last 11 games and moved into solo fourth in the standings with a 23-12 record.

They have nine games left on the schedule and are aiming for a top three seed. Timpson’s emergence as a consistent contributor has been a big reason why they continue to climb up the standings.

Caitlin Clark expressed pride in Makayla Timpson’s strong play

Clark singled out Timpson during her postgame interview. She expressed how proud she was of the second-year forward/center, particularly for how she has been performing since the All-Star break.

“KayKay has done everything great,” Clark said. “Just really proud of her and the way she’s grown since the All-Star break. She’s been huge for us and a difference maker. Proud of you.”

Timpson is averaging 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game. She has been playing way better than her season numbers, producing two double-digit scoring games in the last four matchups. The Florida State product is also grabbing 5.2 rebounds over the same span.

Clark, Mitchell and Boston are the Fever’s main guns. However, the team will rely on Timpson, Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull and Monique Billings, among others, to help carry the offensive load. Indiana will return to action on Tuesday to face the Toronto Tempo. The Fever are favored to win again and extend their winning streak to five games ahead of a back-to-back set starting on Saturday.
