Indiana Fever make historic Kelsey Mitchell announcement

Kelsey Mitchell is amid a historic season with the Indiana Fever. She has showcased her dominant scoring ways throughout the campaign and is a big reason why the team is only half-a-game behind for third in the standings.

The four-time All-Star once again enjoyed a strong performance on Thursday against the Dallas Wings. She finished with a game-high 37 points on 9-of-18 shooting, along with five assists and four three-pointers. However, her production wasn’t enough to secure a victory, losing 91-85. It ended Indiana’s five-game winning run and dealt the team with only its third loss in 13 games.

The good news for Mitchell is she made league and franchise history on the same night.

The Fever announced on social media that Mitchell now owns the most consecutive games with 20-plus points. She surpassed the Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson, who recorded 20 straight between the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Mitchell also set a new mark with the most points in a season in franchise history. She has recorded the top three, including last year’s 890 and 767 in 2024.

Indiana still has seven games remaining, giving the 30-year-old a chance to add to her total. The Fever can also secure a top three seed if they string more wins together and record a better slate than the Aces.

Mitchell is second in the league in scoring, averaging 24.3 points per game. The team will continue to lean on her, along with Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston in the playoff push. Indiana started the campaign at 5-5 but has since turned its fortunes around. Mitchell played a significant role in reaching where they are now. However, the Fever are hungry for more success and have their sights set on winning the title.
