Zavion Thomas shined for the Chicago Bears on Saturday against the Tennessee Titans. The rookie wide receiver played a key role in the 24-15 win, and sent a savage message for Titans safety Jerrick Reed II.

Tyson Bagent completed a pass to Thomas before he ran for a 97-yard touchdown in Chicago’s first drive. The wide receiver showed off his speed and agility by perfectly running his route and did not give the defense a chance to catch him.

He finished with five receptions for 140 yards and one score. Bagent, on the other hand, completed 16-of-17 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. The victory gave the Bears a 2-1 preseason record, bouncing back strong from their 27-9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last week.

Chicago Bears: Zavion Thomas’ postgame comments for Jerrick Reed II

Reed ran towards Thomas and tried to tackle him to save a touchdown. However, the first-year wideout did not worry about defenders stopping him, continuing to make his way to the end zone. Reporters asked him if Reed could prevent him from scoring.

“I was more so locked in on (the) end zone,” Thomas said. “Nah, he didn’t have a chance.”

Thomas is Chicago’s third-round pick this year at No. 89 overall. He is coming off a solid collegiate career, playing two years with Mississippi State before entering the transfer portal. The 22-year-old spent the last two seasons with LSU.

In 2026, analysts expect Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Jahdae Walker to play the most snaps at the position. However, Thomas showed what he’s capable of and left a strong impression on head coach Ben Johnson and his staff. Chicago has a good problem with options at wide receiver, and it remains to be seen how the team will utilize Thomas in the regular season. The Bears will open their campaign on Sept.13 against the Carolina Panthers.
