Tyson Bagent impressed big time during the Chicago Bears’ preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. He registered two touchdowns and only had one incompletion. The coaching staff and Caleb Williams were impressed by the backup quarterback. The QB1 was hyped after one of his TD passes.

Bengent completed 16-of-17 passes for 208 yards and two scores. He also avoided getting sacked and recorded a 156.86 QBR in the 24-15 win. It was Chicago’s second victory of the preseason, finishing with a 2-1 record. The team’s only loss was last week, a 27-9 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals. Bagent left the game with the Bears leading14-9 at halftime.

The franchise has shown a lot of trust in the undrafted QB out of Shepherd. Chicago rewarded him with a two-year, $10 million contract extension in August 2025.

Williams’ was on the sideline watching the action, including Bagent’s end zone pass to Maurice Alexander to give the team a 13-6 advantage. The wideout amassed seven receptions for 50 yards.

Cameras captured Williams’ reaction to Bagent’s impressive play.

The moment showed the bond shared the by the two QBs. While Williams will remain as the QB1, Bagent showed that he can perform well if team calls his name. His preseason emergence gives the team an insurance at the position and someone who can step up if needed. Williams did not see action all-game long, with Case Keenum and Miller Moss starring in the second half.

However, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner will resume with his role starting in Week 1 on Sept. 13. The Bears will visit the Carolina Panthers before their home opener on Sept. 20 versus the Minnesota Vikings. Bagent will likely serve as his backup for majority, if not the entire 2026 campaign.
