Zavion Thomas is coming off an impressive performance against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday. The Chicago Bears rookie showed off his speed and drew a lot of attention for his speed and route running. An NFL update about the wide receiver was released one day after the 24-15 win at Nissan Stadium.
Thomas registered five receptions for 140 yards and one score. He left strong impression on Ben Johnson and the rest of the coaching staff, strengthening his case to receive more minutes in the regular season. The 22-year-old’s highlights included a 97-yard touchdown during the Bears’ first drive off a perfect pass from Tyson Bagent.
It set the tone for Chicago as it secured its second preseason win. The victory allowed the team to finish 2-1, gaining more momentum for the start of the campaign.

Thomas was the Bears’ No. 89 overall pick in the third round. He enjoyed a strong collegiate career spanning from 2022 to 2025. The Louisiana native played two seasons with the Mississippi State Bulldogs before entering the transfer portal. He suited up for the LSU Tigers in the past two campaigns.
Chicago’s wide receiver room is stacked with Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Jahdae Walker likely to play the most snaps. However, Thomas proved his worth and showed that he can belongs in the league. His emergence gives Johnson a good problem as he has more options at the position.
The Bears will commence their regular season on Sept. 13 versus the Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers. They will play seven primetime games in 2026 following their NFC North win in 2025.
