Colston Loveland and the Chicago Bears faced the Green Bay Packers thrice in the 2025 season. It gave the then-rookie a chance to experience the playing against their rivals multiple times in his rookie year. He looked back at the Wild Card Round matchup and shared his thoughts about the “crazy” game.
Chicago and Green Bay met during Weeks 14 and 16, splitting the results. The Packers won the first matchup 21-14 before the Bears returned the favor 22-16 two weeks later. Loveland and Co. made sure they had the last laugh, eliminating them 31-27 in overtime in the playoffs.
They proved that they are one of the NFL’s teams of the future, showing a lot of heart despite a young core. Caleb Williams proved his critics wrong with strong performances throughout the season, with Loveland emerging as one of his favorite targets.

Loveland recalled how the playoff game went. He shared what head coach Ben Johnson told the team and how they completed the comeback at Soldier Field.
“That was crazy,” Loveland said. “First of all, I’ve never been a part of so many comeback wins and close games in college. That doesn’t happen like that. So seeing that, and that game, shout out coach Johnson. That’s the biggest thing. Finish, finish, finish. We work two-minute more than anyone. We work end-of-game situations. So we’re comfortable. And I mean, that was just like, ‘All right, let’s get the first one, let’s get the first touchdown. Let’s get the first.’
“And then you start looking up and it’s like, ‘Wow, we’re really chipping this thing.’ We’re about to win this game. And then I forget which one it was when we get the onside kick. Both of those last two games, get the onside kick. They’re scared now. We’re comfortable. We’re right where we want to be, so let’s go drive down here and end this game off. It was crazy. Caleb doing what he’s doing.”
