Angel Reese flexes big play in Team USA vs. Czechia game

Angel Reese and Team USA swept their group phase games of the FIBA World Cup. They defeated Czechia 105-64 on Monday, with the Atlanta Dream star producing13 points, six rebounds and three steals. Her strong performance included a three-point play, which the team posted on Instagram and she flexed on her account.

Reese has been a consistent contributor to the team, showcasing her rebounding prowess and reliability inside the paint. She is also not afraid of going toe-to-toe against bigger opponents, particularly against Chinese center Zhang Ziyu. The three-time WNBA All-Star has held her own, scoring in double digits in two of Team USA’s three games so far. She and her teammates await the result of the Hungary-Japan matchup on Tuesday, as the winner will challenge them in the quarterfinals.

Angel Reese reposts Team USA video on her Instagram story

Team USA featured Reese in one of its Instagram videos on Monday. She reposted it on her story, where she scored over a Czechia defender off a pass from Paige Bueckers.

The only game where Reese struggled was against Italy on Sunday. Only Jackie Young scored in double figures with 10, and was the lone American to convert more than two field goals. Reese finished with eight points and three rebounds in the hard-fought 55-52 victory.

The quarterfinals is set for Thursday, and Reese and Co. will be favored regardless of who advances to face them. Team USA has its sights set on winning its fifth consecutive world championship, with Reese playing a key role.

It has been a successful run so far for her with the national team and Atlanta. The Dream are currently fourth in the WNBA standings with a 26-14 record and are battling with the Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever for a top-three seed. They have four games left on their schedule starting with a matchup with the Connecticut Sun on Sept. 17.
