Chicago Bears’ playoff opponent had NSFW reaction to Caleb Williams test

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams played his first NFL playoff games in 2025. And yet, at least one of his opponents were already terrified of facing the quarterback.

Williams did orchestrate six fourth quarter comebacks during the regular season. And his one playoff win over the Green Bay Packers was another come from behind win. While it’s not clear if the Packers are the franchise in question, at least one team wanted no part of Williams in the playoffs, via Jeff Howe of the Athletic.

“Quarterback Caleb Williams was at his best during a league-high six fourth-quarter comebacks last season, and one playoff team said they were “scared s—less” to possibly draw the Bears due to his late-game heroics,” Howe wrote.

If everything goes how the Bears are planning, they would again be a playoff contender in 2o26. Should Williams continue developing as planned, he would be an even scarier postseason quarterback.

Bears’ Caleb Williams still has room to grow 

For any fear Williams may have struck into his opponents, those around the league know he still isn’t a finished product. Running Johnson’s offense to perfection wasn’t going to happen over night.

“But there’s also a consistent opinion around the NFL that Williams must be more consistent on schedule to really elevate his game,” he continued. “Williams faced a steep learning curve from Lincoln Riley’s college offense, so time was always going to be a requirement for Williams. If he can close that gap, he’ll quickly become one of the league’s best.”

Williams finding his consistency would make him an only more dangerous quarterback. His playmaking ability is a trait not held by many others in the league. But if he is able to handle the fundamentals of the offense just as well, he’ll be difficult to stop on every possession.
