Sophie Cunningham gets sentimental about Indiana Fever

Sophie Cunningham is one of the WNBA’s most popular players. The Indiana Fever star is known for being vocal and not being shy of speaking her mind. She posted a video on Friday and turned sentimental about her team and teammates.

Cunningham played 20 minutes off the bench during Friday’s 103-85 win over the Toronto Tempo. She finished with five points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal. While the numbers are not eye-popping, she made her presence felt by playing good defense and bringing a lot of energy to the Fever.

Kelsey Mitchell spearheaded Indiana’s charge with 33 points built on seven three-pointers. She added two rebounds and two assists while shooting 12-of-17 from the field. It was the four-time All-Star’s 25th consecutive games with 20-plus points. Caitlin Clark backed her with 28 points, six rebounds and 14 assists.

Cunningham expressed satisfaction with how the Fever performed at Cocal-Cola Coliseum. She also discussed how happy she was seeing her teammates making sure everyone gets home safe.

“So we’re just getting home,” Cunningham said. “It’s almost 2 a.m. And something that I cherish and I just love is when our whole team is just like following each other home. We’re all going fast as hell. We’re safe-ish. But it’s just like those moments of, I don’t know, we’re like the only ones on the road. And I just love that. I also missed my turn because I was listening to music and singing and giving myself a concert. Clearly, I’m tired and need to go to bed, but I’m still a little wired. A little wired. Wired. All right.”

Cunningham and Indiana will only have one day to rest as they will return to action on Sunday. They will host the Washington Mystics at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first of their three remaining regular-season games.
