Getting carted off the field and full of emotions, many thought Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams suffered a potential season-ending injury. But after further tests, it was revealed that Williams has “just” a hamstring strain.
Now, a new batch of backlash has been sent the quarterback’s way. The quarterback is being clowned for riding the cart and being in tears despite his injury being minor in nature. There have been plenty of memes made, and Williams will likely be hearing jokes about the situation for a while.
Ultimately, the quarterback will trade memes for not suffering the devastating injury he thought he did. However, the new wave of hate has taken over the entire injury narrative. In the public eye, his reaction to the injury has gotten more attention than Williams going down in the first place.
Peers around the NFL have begun to take notice to how Williams has been treated. Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby was quick to defend the Bears quarterback.

While mostly healthy throughout his NFL career, Crosby has dealt with injuries in the past. He obviously understands the rigors of playing in the league. The Raiders star wasn’t shocked to see Williams react the way he did, both due to pain and the seriousness of the moment, via The Rush Podcast, h/t Bearsszn.
“I’ve had one hammy thing a while back. That sh*t will freak you the f**k out when it first happen,” Crosby said. “So in his head, you’d imagine oh sh*t. Something really bad just happened and you have all these emotions and things going on. We send love to Caleb and we know he’ll bounce back.”

Ask any opposing quarterback and they’ll likely tell you Crosby is one of the tougher pass rushers in the league. If he is saying Williams’ injury is painful, that should be taken at face value. Furthermore, Crosby addressed the emotions behind the hamstring strain. It may have ended up being minor, but Williams didn’t know that. And he’s supposed to carry Chicago on his back.
It’s one thing to receive flack on the internet. But Williams will see the biggest picture when true NFL players are on your side. In a non-injury note, don’t be surprised if Crosby’s endorsements stirs up trade rumors once again.
