Fever star Kelsey Mitchell was left in disbelief by Caitlin Clark

Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark have formed one of the best backcourts in the WNBA today. The Indiana Fever stars have led the team to a playoff berth after the splitting the first 10 games of the season. The four-time All-Star revealed a moment she was left in disbelief of the Iowa Hawkeye product’s popularity.

Mitchell and Clark once again spearheaded Indiana’s attack on Tuesday. Their strong performances led the team to a 96-77 win over the Minnesota Lynx at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Clark finished with 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting, along with seven rebounds and nine assists. Mitchell backed her with 20 points, three rebounds and four assists. She continued her historic run with her 27th consecutive regular-season game with 20-plus points.

Aliyah Boston contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Sophie Cunningham added 11 points built on three three-pointers. The win was just what the doctor ordered as the Fever saw its three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday.

Mitchell recalled the time when Indiana played a game at the Hawkeyes’ home court, Carver-Hawkeye Arena. She compared Clark’s popularity to NBA superstar LeBron James’.

“I think CC,” Mitchell said. “When she first got here and I saw these people, and we had to go play the preseason game in Iowa. I was like, ‘Bro, this is like some LeBron sh**, bro.’ I couldn’t believe it. Hats off to the GOAT LeBron James. I’m just saying, to see the light and the people and the stuff, I’m in awe of CC every time because she handled it so well. Her as a professional, too. She wants to be great. And I think that that’s another reason we can be great together (is) because (of) her passion.”

Mitchell, Clark and Co. will play their last regular-season game on Thursday also against the Lynx. They are currently fifth in the standings with a 28-15 record.
