The Chicago Bears are entering their Week 3 matchup banged up on both sides of the ball. Most notably, quarterback Caleb Williams seems unlikely to play after picking up a hamstring strain.

Because of that, the Eagles have emerged as 4.5-point favorites for the Monday Night Football clash, via DraftKings Sportsbook. The Bears will be getting underdog status all week.

Even if Williams were healthy, taking down the Eagles is no easy task. Chicago’s defense will be asked to take another step forward after holding the Minnesota Vikings to nine points in Week 2. There will be quite the jump in play from Carson Wentz to Jalen Hurts.

Without Williams, the Bears’ ability to truly compete has come into question. But head coach Ben Johnson thinks the franchise has more than enough talent to earn a victory.

Things will certainly look different with either Tyson Bagent or Case Keenum under center. But the offensive line will remain. Either QB will have the same pass catchers. Johnson will still be calling plays in their ear.

Williams plays an irreplicable role in any success Chicago finds. But Johnson remains confident in the Bears’ foundation, via the head coach’s Wednesday press conference.

“It’s opportunity the way I see it,” Johnson said. “Our guys see it as that as well. Everyone outside of the building is writing us off and saying it can’t be done. We really relish that. Guys will step up to the plate. Guys we maybe don’t anticipate or expect. We have a really talented team. I’ve been saying that in the spring, throughout camp. High expectations on where this year can go for us.”

“We’re going to continue to get better, a race to improve. Nothing’s changed in that regard,” he continued. “There’s plenty of things we need to clean up from last week. And we need a great week of preparation this week. That’s all we’re concerned about right now.”

If the Bears can knock off the Eagles without their starting quarterback, it would prove their deep playoff run hopes legit. Johnson and company understand how difficult that task will actually be. But Chicago’s head coach isn’t cowering from the fight.
