Bears QB Caleb Williams had no words on big news away from NFL

Caleb Williams sustained a hamstring injury during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Chicago Bears quarterback left the field with less than eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and did not return. While he continues to recover from it, he celebrated the MLB achievement of his good friend, Chicago Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Williams is in danger of missing his team’s Week 3 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. He reportedly missed practice again on Thursday, along with Tyson Bagent. The Bears are monitoring the QB2 closely due to concussion symptoms, and his availability for Monday remains up in the air.

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner completed 15-of-26 passes for 138 yards against one interception. Bagent took over under center and recorded 5-of-9 receptions for 54 yards.

The Cubs announced on Thursday that Crow-Armstrong is now part of the 40-40 club. He became the seventh player in MLB history to achieve the feat in a single season. The center fielder has 45 home runs and 40 stolen bases this year. Williams shared the Cubs’ post on his Instagram without a caption.

Crow-Armstrong joins Shohei Ohtani, Ronald Acuña Jr., Alfonso Soriano, Alex Rodriguez and Barry Bonds in the exclusive club. Jose Canseco was the first to record it in the 1988 season.

Meanwhile, Williams and the Bears are 1-1. They opened the campaign with a 59-37 win over the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium before last Sunday’s 9-3 loss. The star quarterback reportedly avoided a serious injury and likely won’t miss extended time. He hasn’t been ruled out yet for the Eagles game but not expected to suit up. Case Keenum could be named the starter if he and Bagent sit out. The 38-year-old has 66 starts under his belt, with the last one in the 2023 season.
