Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark have formed one of the best duos in the WNBA today. The star guards powered the team to a 28-16 regular-season record and clinched the No. 6 seed. However, their historic campaign ended with a 94-83 Game 3 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday. The four-time All-Star opened up on the downside of playing alongside the 2024 Rookie of the Year.

Mitchell struggled from the field in the winner-take-all matchup. She shot 7-of-23 and finished with 23 points, two rebounds and three three-pointers. Clark also shot poorly, knocking down just 6-of-18 attempts, recording 18 points and four assists. Aliyah Boston added 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Indiana Fever: Kelsey Mitchell speaks on challenges being on the same team as Caitlin Clark

Mitchell acknowledged the pressure that comes with being Clark’s teammate. She also stressed on the attention and expectations that comes with having the Iowa product on her side.

“Playing with CC and having the eyes that she got, we get a lot of flack just for being on her team,” Mitchell said. “So I think that comes with a lot, too. I just think that people got to give us grace. I think this organization is unbelievable, man. But I think that when it comes to really trying to be yourself, it hasn’t always been easy. That’s all I’ll say.”

Clark has taken the WNBA by storm since she was drafted at No. 1 overall in 2024. She has garnered a lot of attention and often makes headlines. The good news is Mitchell continued to shine despite the scrutiny the team received. If she re-signs with the Fever in the offseason, she and Clark will remain part of the team’s three-headed monster, along with Boston. However, the front office could also make a few additions to give them the best chance of winning the title.
