Love you long time – Hell Let Loose: Vietnam devs are launching an open beta ahead of game launch – here’s how to get in

Hell Let Loose is heading out of the trenches and into the jungles next month, as Team17 and Expression Games have confirmed that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches on June 18 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Alongside the release date reveal, the devs have also announced an open beta kicking off later this month for players wanting an early taste of the new setting.

Unlike the original game’s grim World War 2 battlefields, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam swaps Europe for dense jungles, rivers, tunnels, helicopters, and patrol boats, with the developers still pushing the same brutal 50v50 tactical warfare the franchise became known for.

The open beta runs from May 29 until June 1 and is currently PC-only via Steam. Players will need to sign up through the game’s FirstLook testing portal before they can jump in. Console players, unfortunately, are sitting this one out.

The beta will focus on the Thanh Hóa Bridge map and give players access to some of the biggest new additions to the series, including helicopters, tunnels, boats, and new jungle combat systems. Expression Games says the full release will feature six maps at launch, all inspired by real locations and battles from the Vietnam War.

Despite the shift in era, the studio has repeatedly stressed that Vietnam isn’t replacing the original Hell Let Loose. Speaking previously about the game, franchise director Steve Woodward said the aim was to expand the series without abandoning existing players, while also making the experience more accessible for newcomers.

That means the focus remains heavily on communication, teamwork, and organised squads rather than twitch shooting or kill/death ratios. If you’ve played the original, you’ll already know the vibe: one good commander is worth more than a dozen lone wolves sprinting into machine gun fire.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches June 18 digitally, with physical console editions arriving later on August 4. Pre-orders are already live, and yes, there’s the usual pile of bonus cosmetics attached if you’re into that sort of thing.
