Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark marked another incredible career milestone on Friday. This is after she was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for June.
Clark was on fire last month, playing some of the best basketball in her career. She played 10 games, leading her team to a 6-4 record.
Unfortunately, the three-time All-Star went down on June 24 after a contentious moment against the Phoenix Mercury. She tweaked her back after a foul on a three-point attempt, forcing the Fever to shut her down for the rest of the game. Clark sat out Indiana’s next game, a 111-87 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on June 27.
During her hot streak, the former Rookie of the Year averaged 21.9 points on 45.6% shooting, 8.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Congratulations quickly poured in for Clark after her latest feat. This is the second time in her career that she has won Player of the Month. She first achieved this honor in August 2024 as a rookie.
Fever General Manager Amber Cox was among those who sent a congratulatory message to the 24-year-old. The high-ranking team executive had some lofty praise for their cornerstone superstar.
“Incredibly grateful and fortunate to be in this young woman’s orbit on a daily basis. She is so special on and off the court! Big congrats to CC!” Cox posted on X.

While the message was positive, fans couldn’t help but throw shade at Cox amid the recent controversies involving Clark. Some folks on social media are still bitter over Clark’s recent incident with Alyssa Thomas. The WNBA suspended the Mercury star for driving her fist into the Fever guard’s throat during a game. Others pointed to the other issues Clark has faced throughout her time in Indiana.
“Actions speak louder than empty words. Fever organization has yet to market this generational player, let alone stand up for CC. Like Engelbert, you don’t want CC face of the W which is why you allowed CC’s generational gift be ignored. Learn from leadership of Wings, Lynx,&Aces,” a comment read.
“Please, you never stick up for her. The media goes on a coordinated hit piece of her, Dakich went on rant ripping her, claiming to have inside organization info you were radio silent. Your organization rips her fans, coach blames her for losses, trade her and we go with her,” another said.
“Then treat her like you are. Holy hell support her publicly you duntz,” declared a user.
“I appreciate this but let me help you understand why all these comments are so negative. You have allowed them continually to manipulate the narrative making your own player and fans the enemy. We aren’t blind or stupid to the narrative this league would have preferred,” a reaction read.
“Stop the BS. Speak up for her, get her a coach that will use her the right way and protect her. You need to resign,” demanded another.
“Amber we are not falling for this BS. You are a massive part of the problem that exists in the Indy FO. We need you , Steph, Kraus, and Linn to all be gone. You’re destroying the career of the GOAT! And that isn’t Kelsey Michell!! It’s Caitlin Clark DA!” a fan wrote.
While there’s no denying that Cox has played a major role in the Fever’s success over the past couple of years, it is clear that many fans aren’t happy with how the front office has treated Clark.
