Fever star Caitlin Clark’s blunt message on WNBA punishment

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark received her sixth technical foul of the season on Saturday. The Fever secured a 108-88 blowout win over the New York Liberty, but Clark’s tech brought her closer to a looming WNBA suspension.

Per league rules, a player will receive an automatic one-game suspension after her eighth technical foul. Players will be suspended again for every two techs thereafter.

Clark received her sixth of the season for excessive complaining. On Monday during practice, the four-time All-Star addressed the incident.

“I just yelled at him to call [the foul],” Clark said. “And obviously it was a pretty quick technical, but whatever.”

When asked if she plans to make any changes considering how she’s closing in on a suspension, the former WNBA Rookie of the Year had a blunt response.

“No,” Clark stated, smiling.

Clark is the type of player who wears her heart on her sleeve. She’s very passionate on the basketball court, and this sometimes gets her into trouble. A perfect example of the same is Saturday’s incident. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star got a little bit too heated toward the ref, resulting in a technical foul.

This is far from the first time this has happened for Clark. In fact, she’s built a bit of a reputation for intensely arguing with referees during games. Her six technical fouls in 24 games this season are a testament to this fact.

Nevertheless, Clark has no plans of changing her ways. She knows that her fervor has become an essential part of her game, and she has no intention of giving this up — even if it means a potential suspension from the league.
