The Chicago Bears surprised many in the NFL last season by going 11-6 and winning the NFC North. As they prepare for 2026, they have more expectations levied on them to build off of last year’s success. This is especially true of quarterback Caleb Williams, who is entering his third NFL season.

Over the course of the off-season, it was revealed that Williams graces the cover of the next Madden game. Additionally, he has been included at various levels of multiple top-10 quarterback lists.

However, one outlet does not seem to think the Bears quarterback is quite that elite just yet.

CBS Sports recently released an article in which they ranked the top-10 players at every offensive position. Whereas many previous lists from other outlets included Williams in their top-10, CBS Sports’ panel did not.

Their top-10 NFL quarterback list is as follows:

  • Josh Allen
  • Patrick Mahomes
  • Matthew Stafford
  • Joe Burrow
  • Lamar Jackson
  • Drake Maye
  • Dak Prescott
  • Justin Herbert
  • Jordan Love
  • Jared Goff and Jayden Daniels

As part of their voting process, Williams received four “points,” and was not ranked higher than 10th by any of their NFL analysts.

Meanwhile, Love, the Green Bay Packers quarterback, was ranked ninth. He was not ranked higher than eighth by anyone on their panel, and some had him unranked (he finished with 19 “points” in their vote).

Williams is coming off of a season which saw him have a 58.1% completion percentage, 3,942 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, just seven interceptions, and a 90.1 passer rating.

In order for the Bears quarterback to get more respect from the national media, at least those that doubt him, he will have to improve that completion percentage. This is something that both he and Ben Johnson have been focusing on this off-season.
