European football’s governing body UEFA said Saturday that the president of the sport’s global governing body, FIFA chief Gianni Infantino, had “lost” their “confidence” after his bid to spin off the commercial rights to the World Cup and other competitions into a semi-private company. Infantino had earlier dropped the plan, but the furious backlash it triggered appeared set to upend his presidency.
