Sky in danger of losing player amid WNBA development

WNBA: New York Liberty at Chicago Sky

The Chicago Sky continue to struggle this season and rank 13th in the standings with a 10-18 record. Their lineup features a mix of veterans and promising young stars, but they have not managed to string wins together. The team will likely make changes soon with the trade deadline looming, including adjustments with their developmental players.

Chloe Bibby is one of them, who went undrafted in 2022. She signed a training camp deal with the Golden State Valkyries in February 2025 but they waived her three months later. However, the Valkyries re-signed her, and she appeared in five regular-season games before they released her.

The Indiana Fever scooped her up in July 2025 on a seven-day contract and then signed her for the rest of the season. The 6-foot-2 forward put pen to paper on a developmental deal with the Sky in June.

She played nine games for Indiana last year, averaging 3.9 points and 1.2 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game. Bibby’s three-point shooting makes her an effective stretch forward.

Sky could lose Chloe Bibby to the Minnesota Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx reportedly offered Bibby a standard contract on Friday. However, the Sky have until today to match it to retain her services, according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou.

“News: The Minnesota Lynx have offered Chicago Sky developmental player Chloe Bibby a standard contract; Sky have right of first refusal and must decide by tomorrow whether to retain her,” Philippou wrote on X.

Minnesota could use Bibby’s shooting to clear more driving lanes for Olivia Miles and Napheesa Collier, among others. It remains to be seen if the Lynx will land her, but Chicago needs to decide soon. The trade deadline is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. ET and other moves around the league ahead of it will likely affect the team’s decision.
