Zavion Thomas is set for his rookie season with the Chicago Bears. The team selected him at No. 89 overall in the third round following a strong collegiate career with Mississippi State and LSU. He will likely be part of a lot of snaps and has a chance to become one of Caleb Williams’ reliable targets.

Thomas suited up for two years with the Bulldogs before spending the last two campaigns with the Tigers. The wide receiver amassed 41 receptions for 488 yards and four touchdowns in 2025, helping the program reach the Texas Bowl. He is now participating in Chicago’s training camp to familiarize himself with the plays and become more familiar with Williams’ passes.

The star quarterback has been criticized for his fiery ways, particularly when he calls out his teammates. Thomas has experienced that firsthand but understands that Williams just wants to bring out the best in him.

“I know it’s coming from a good place,” Thomas said. “We all got the same objective, we all got the same vote (and) we want to win. So if I’m not doing the right thing, anybody get to me. I know how to take coaching. I know it’s coming from a good place.”

Williams continues to evolve as a leader and becomes more vocal entering his third season. He proved in 2025 that he is the Bears’ long-term answer and that he can lead them to success. The 24-year-old guided the team to an NFC North crown and reached the Divisional Round despite many not believing he could. Next season is crucial as he can further silence his critics with another strong run, especially with additional weapons like Thomas in tow.

Chicago will open its regular season on Sept. 13 on the road against the Carolina Panthers. The home opener will take place in Week 2 versus the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 20.
