WNBA facing pushback over Fever HC Stephanie White news

Stephanie White guided the Indiana Fever in bouncing back from their slow start. They opened the season 5-5 record but now hold a 19-11 record and sit fifth in the standings. July was a huge month for the team, as they won eight of their 10 games.

The Fever are coming off a 108-100 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, which snapped their five-game winning streak. However, they have a chance to immediately return to their winning ways when they host the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday. It won’t be easy, but Indiana will likely have Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston available as both are listed as probable.

White has played a huge role in leading the team to its current success. While its stars often receive credit for turning its fortunes around, the veteran head coach and her staff prepare the players well ahead of games.

Fans blast the WNBA for rewarding Fever HC Stephanie’s White

The WNBA announced that White is the Coach of the Month for July. It’s the third such honor of her career. However, fans expressed their dissatisfaction and shared their thoughts on X.

“Not a worthy coach imo. Team has underperformed to date,” one user commented.

“That coach is incompetent and mediocre she never won anything in her entire career. She just lucky enough to have great players and generational talents like CC; that’s why they won the commissioners cup last year, because of the players, not her,” a reaction read.

“Cheryl Reeves so deserves this,” one fan said.

White and Indiana will play three of their next four games at home, giving them a good opportunity to string more wins together. The team is tied with the Atlanta Dream and could continue to move up the standings with another hot streak.
