Chicago Bears Ryan Poles Dillon Thieneman

Just two weeks into training camp, the Chicago Bears are already extremely thin in the secondary.

The team lost safety Coby Bryant due to a left knee injury. The defense is also without starting nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon, along with multiple injured depth pieces.

This leaves first round draft pick Dillon Thienenan with a major opportunity to create a splash. Unfortunately, early reports out of Saturday’s practice is that the rookie is struggling.

According to CHGO’s Greg Braggs Jr, the former Oregon Duck got “mossed” by star tight end Colston Loveland for a touchdown during 7 on 7s on Saturday.

In another video going around from Friday’s 11 on 11 period, the safety got burned by Luther Burden for a touchdown as well.

However, in this clip the Bears’ star receiver made a nasty route that would be hard for anyone to defend. Despite the team and fans being potentially concerned, it’s still very early for Thieneman. The safety is also practicing against a top offense in the NFL

Hopefully Thieneman can find a groove and start lighting it up at camp, especially with how injured this secondary is.
