The Chicago Cubs are on a role, having won five straight games. This, of course, is precisely what fans and the front office wanted to see following the MLB trade deadline. Now 68-49 on the season, the Cubs are just 4.5 games out of first place in the National League Central Division and the race for the best record in baseball.
During this recent hot streak, the Cubs have not even deployed arguably their biggest trade deadline acquisition. Clay Holmes, formerly of the New York Mets, was on the 60-day injured list due to a fractured fibula.
However, he is going to look to keep the good times rolling by making his Cubs debut on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Cubs announced that they have activated Holmes from the injured list. In a corresponding move, they sent Braxton Jones, who also acquired at the trade deadline, to Triple-A Iowa:

Before getting hit by a line drive that broke his leg, Holmes was 4-4 with a 2.39 ERA in nine starts with the Mets. If he can return to form right away in Chicago, he can certainly help the Cubs make a late push for an NL Central title.
Garrett did not make any appearances for the Cubs since being acquired by them on Monday. Prior to the trade, he was 0-1 with a 14.54 ERA in two appearances for the Marlins.
