The Chicago Bears wide receivers have taken a beaten in recent days, with a rookie leaving Sunday’s practice with what appears to be a knee injury.
On Saturday, second-year receiver Luther Burden III limped off the practice field. He’s expected to miss time this summer while he recovers from a groin injury.
Burden wasn’t the only injured receiver from Saturday’s practice, as Kyron Hudson left the field early.
Per Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune, rookie Zavion Thomas left practice early after being “knocked down” during 7-on-7 drills. Amidst injuries to some of the Bears’ top receivers, Jahdae Walker worked with the first team on Sunday.
“Bears rookie 3rd-round pick Zavion Thomas exited practice early after getting knocked down during 7-on-7,” Hammond posted on X. “He’s a guy you’d want to see in the preseason opener Saturday. Luther Burden did not practice today. Bears WR depth being tested. Jahdae Walker got lots of run with the 1s.”

Adam Hoge of CHGO Bears noted Thomas grabbed his knee when he went down. He limped off the field.
The Bears’ skilled players on both sides of the ball are stacking up injuries this summer. Chicago worked out several defensive backs on Friday amid injuries to a few safeties and cornerbacks.
It’s troubling that the Bears are losing core members of their receiver corps and secondary before the first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.
The Bears need Thomas to earn as many reps as he can before the team’s season opener against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.
Thomas had a strong spring and showed promise to start training camp this summer. He’s a speedy receiver that offers the Bears help at returner on special teams.
The good news for Thomas is that he exited the field on his own power, but Burden did so too on Saturday before being ruled out of practice for a considerable amount of time.
