Chicago Bears: Latest NFL Power Ranking revealed ahead of preseason opener

Just like that, preseason football is almost here. The Chicago Bears finally return to the field on Saturday, facing the Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field to open the 2026 preseason.

Chicago ended their 2025 campaign with one of the most memorable seasons in recent years.

The team won the NFC North and won their first playoff game in over a decade against rival Green Bay.

With their Super Bowl aspirations on the rise, the Bears are looking to continue to be a top team in the NFL.

In the latest power rankings from NFL.com’s Nick Shook, the Bears are ranked among the top ten teams in the league ahead of preseason week 1.

Shook admits the Bears would be higher in the power rankings, but are not due to their significant “crisis” in the secondary.

As most know, safety Coby Bryant will miss majority of the season following his surgery on his knee. Kyler Gordon also has yet to practice this training camp, as he has been battling injuries dating back to 2025.

On top of that, Shook mentions the DJ Moore trade and Luther Burden’s injury as more reasons for concern.

”Offensively, the departure of DJ Moore wasn’t expected to deal a significant blow to Chicago’s receiving corps, but it also placed a larger burden of responsibility on Luther Burden III, who suffered a groin injury over the weekend and reportedly will miss the entire preseason. That’s not the collection of news an aspiring Super Bowl contender wants to receive in early August.”

Despite Shook’s concern, I feel the Bears have a shot to be a Super Bowl contender in 2026.

One of the biggest storylines out ahead of the team’s preseason opener is how well the offense has looked.

There have been numerous reports discussing how well Caleb Williams and the offense has looked since camp began. Players like Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze, Jahdae Walker, and even rookie Sam Roush have been making an impact.

With a dynamic head coach in Ben Johnson at the helm, good things are bound to happen this season for the Bears.
