Fever star Aliyah Boston snubs Caitlin Clark in bold WNBA MVP declaration

Much of the attention on the Indiana Fever this season has been centered around Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. They are big reasons why the team has achieved a record of 21-12 after starting 5-5. The dynamic backcourt is both playing at MVP levels, with Mitchell among the frontrunners for the WNBA’s highest individual honor.

The four-time All-Star is amid a historic run, recording 20-plus points in 17 consecutive games. She often leads the team in scoring and creates a lot of problems for opposing defenses. Mitchell is only three more 20-plus point outings away from tying the WNBA’s all-time record.

Meanwhile, Clark and Boston have consistently produced impressive numbers. The superstar guard has achieved four double-doubles in the last five games, while Boston continues to anchor the defense and contribute solid numbers.

Aliyah Boston names Kelsey Mitchell as her MVP pick

Mitchell received praise from Boston during an interview on Thursday. She declared her as the MVP, citing how she has been giving it her all on both ends of the court.

“Kelsey comes in here and she works every day,” Boston said. “She gets up extra shots. She just comes in and does what she needs to do. And I think, honestly, she’s really just the MVP. I think that’s just what she’s been doing. Every single night you see her come out and she drops, I don’t even know how many points at this rate. She defends her butt off and we just come out here and we play. She does exactly what she needs to do, so I’m really proud of her.”

Boston, Mitchell, Clark and the Fever will host Paige Bueckers, Jessica Shepard, Azzi Fudd and the Dallas Wings on Friday. Indiana has a chance to win its third consecutive game and continue climbing the standings. The team sits at fourth place but is in a good position to earn a top three seed in the playoffs.
