Kelsey Mitchell is making a lot of noise this season for her dominant scoring ways. She is on pace to match or surpass the WNBA record for most consecutive 20-plus point regular-season games. A’ja Wilson set the mark of 20 from 2023 to 2024. However, the Indiana Fever star guard already owns the single-season record with 17 straight.

Mitchell is also one of the biggest reasons why Indiana is fourth in the standings with a 21-12 record. She is averaging 24.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists through 33 games. Along with Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, they continue to power the Fever as they aim to win the title this season.

Kelsey Mitchell reacts to news about her 20-point scoring streak

Reporters asked Mitchell for her thoughts about owning the league record. She instead emphasized that she’s just doing her job and remains focused on helping her team win.

“I just was (made) aware of the streaks and the numbers a little bit on TV the other day, so this is kind of new for me,” Mitchell said. “You just show up, you play, you try to do the right thing. You try to do the right thing and you just let it flow.”

Mitchell and Co. have the opportunity to win their third straight game against the Dallas Wings. They are coming off victories over the Chicago Sky and New York Liberty. A triumph at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday will give Indiana more momentum as it embarks on a four-game road trip starting on Sunday.

The team will face the Atlanta Dream at State Farm Arena before taking on the Toronto Tempo two days later. Tip off is set at 5 p.m. ET and ESPN will broadcast the game live. A matchup with the Wings again on Thursday could be the game when Mitchell ties the record. The last fixture of the road trip is against the Liberty, which could be a historic day for the four-time All-Star.
