Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese’s WNBA teams faced each other for the ninth team over their pro careers on Sunday. They have built a rivalry after both entering the league in 2024 and following their iconic matchups in college. The Indiana Fever defeated the Atlanta Dream 95-91, with the three-time All-Star forward missing a potential game-winner.
Clark finished with 26 points, three rebounds and nine assists, shooting 9-of-20 from the field. Kelsey Mitchell and Makayla Timpson supplied 20 points each, while Aliyah Boston posted an 16-point, 14-rebound double-double. Indiana won its fourth consecutive game and ninth over its last 11 outings.
Meanwhile, Reese recorded 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists but struggled from the field. She only converted five of her 16 field goal attempts. Allisha Gray led the way with 32 points, seven rebounds and five assists, and Rhyne Howard chipped in 17 points and five assists.

Cameras captured Clark’s reaction to Reese’s missed game-winner. The superstar guard smiled as she stood near the action inside the paint. The sequence was posted on X and has since gone viral with almost three million views.

Reese has established herself as one of the best rebounders in the WNBA. However, she often receives backlash for her lack of efficiency, and some accuse her of stat-padding.
Clark and Fever only have a one-day break before they return to action. They will take on the Toronto Tempo at Scotiabank Arena for the second of their four-game road trip. Their series of away games will end on Aug. 23 against the Chicago Sky.
Reese and the Dream, on the other hand, will also play their next game on Tuesday. The team will clash with the Las Vegas Aces, giving fans the opportunity to see Reese go head-to-head with A’ja Wilson. Atlanta is 21-13, trailing Indiana by 1.5 games for fourth place.
