It is no secret that the Chicago Bears are going to be on the move soon. As the franchise is in the beginning seasons of what is hoped to be a competitive era of football, the organization itself is eyeing a new stadium.
Despite calling the city of Chicago home for decades, the Bears have announced that they are focusing on building a new stadium in Hammond, Indiana. They have said that Illinois has not presented them with the same kind of business incentives that Hammond has, and there is little effort on their part to stay where they are.
However, the powers that be in the state legislature have not given up.

According to a report by Fox 32, the Bears still employ three different lobbying firms. The individuals working for these firms are trying to get the organization the best situation for their new stadium, whether it be in Illinois or Indiana.
“When I see that the lobbyists are still on the team, and when I look at the lobbyist that they have on the teams, seems like they’ve got people that can negotiate and get it done in the House, the Senate, and the governor’s office,” said Maze Jackson via the report. “I would say that if they’ve still got a team, then there’s still hope.”
It should be noted, however, that Jackson does not work for any of the lobbying firms employed by the Bears. None of the three firms responded to Fox 32’s request for comment.
That being said, nothing is firmly set in stone just yet. It is possible that these last-ditch efforts by the Illinois state legislature is just to appease their voting base. However, at least for fans, there is still hope the Bears will remain in the state.
