New York Liberty announce good news before Indiana Fever game

The New York Liberty are set to the Indiana Fever in a marquee matchup on Saturday. They are sixth in the standings with a 22-15 record and will host the current No. 4 team. The Liberty announced a positive update regarding their star guard, Sabrina Ioenescu, one day ahead of the big game.

New York has won three of its last five outings but is coming off a 93-86 loss to the Chicago Sky on Tuesday. The team is sixth in the standings but can still secure a top three seed if it strings a lot of wins together to end the regular season. However, the Liberty’s faith is not in their hands as they need the Las Vegas Aces, Atlanta Dream and Indiana to drop more games.

The good news it they remain in a strong position despite Ionescu dealing with several injuries. New York is also scheduled to play five of its last seven games at home.

Sabrina Ionescu not part of injury report for Liberty-Fever game

Ionescu will be available to play against Indiana. The development will give fans the chance to see her share the floor with Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell in a battle between some of the best guards in the WNBA today.

Ionescu has missed 13 of the her team’s 37 games due to ankle, foot and back injuries. However, the latest development is welcome news to New York fans, especially at this stage of the campaign. The coaching staff will likely monitor her minutes to keep her as fresh as possible for the playoffs.

The 28-year-old averages 16.1 points on 42.1% shooting, 5.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Fans widely consider her one of the best three-point shooters in the league.
