Angel Reese is only in her third WNBA season. However, she has already established herself as one of the best rebounders in league history. The Atlanta Dream star also recently earned a new nickname from ESPN.
She broke Alyssa Thomas’ record on Sunday for most double-doubles in a single season. Reese also set a new mark on Aug. 24 for the most rebounds in a game with 26 against the Los Angeles Sparks. More importantly, the three-time All-Star’s strong performances have helped Atlanta to a tie with the Indiana Fever for fourth in the standings with a 26-14 record.
Reese is averaging 16.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists though 38 games. She has seven consecutive double-doubles and is not showing any signs of slowing down any time soon.

Reese finished Sunday’s game with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, along with 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals. ESPN posted her historic feat on X and gave her a new nickname.
“THIS BARBIE IS A DOUBLE-DOUBLE QUEEN

“Double-Double Queen” suits Reese perfectly as she is relentless on the boards and has developed different ways to contribute on the offensive end. She and the Dream have four games left on the schedule to try and overtake the Las Vegas Aces and Fever for a top-three seed.
The WNBA is entering its FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup break. However, Reese will not have more time to rest as she is part of Team USA’s roster for the tournament. She has a chance to showcase her elite skill set on the world stage from Sept. 4 to 13 in Berlin, Germany. The U.S. national team is aiming to win its eighth straight world championship this year.
