Chicago Bears, Daejon Love

Chicago Bears DB Kyler Gordon will begin the 2026-27 season on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. This means he will miss the first four games of the season, and potentially more.

General manager Ryan Poles spoke to the media a few days ago, and his tone wasn’t great when asked about Gordon’s eventual return to the field. Poles said, “I don’t know,” when he was asked when the DB could return to the field.

This puzzling situation is hard for the Bears, as Gordon signed a three-year, $40 million deal last summer, with $31.5 million guaranteed. The expectation from the organization and fans is simple: be available.

Gordon has also faced media scrutiny this past week, as many question his desire to return to the field. He responded by posting a workout clip on social media.

This was a clear response to Poles, who said he had no idea when Gordon was returning, posted just a day after the press conference.

This morning on 104.3 The Score, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune compared the video to the viral scammer Daejon Love’s workout videos.

Love, 35, was recently arrested by federal authorities for allegedly posing as a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud at least 26 women out of approximately $1.3 million. He’s been a massive name and story all over social media the past week or so.

If you haven’t heard of him until now, consider yourself lucky.

Biggs: “That video was like a half-step off a Daejon Love video, if he had a helmet.”

Even with the unfortunate circumstances, the internet has found humor in it, as it always does. Love’s workout videos on Instagram have prompted quite a reaction, as many realize how fake it truly looks.

Love posted videos of himself on the beach, in backyards, and other various locations with his helmet. This sparked laughs across social media, since most NFL players don’t casually carry their helmets around.

Biggs has always been outspoken and very candid with his Bears takes, and he clearly wasn’t backing down here.

“When you see a social media video of a guy doing a workout, I wouldn’t get terribly excited, like some Bears fans have. I mean that video was like a half-step off a Daejon Love video, if he had a helmet.”

He later stated that Bears fans should only get excited when Gordon “has a jersey and helmet on”, saying this short workout video is nothing to write home about.

While he isn’t entirely wrong, you can’t blame fans for getting a bit hopeful. Gordon will be needed on this defense if the Bears would like to return to the postseason.

You be the judge – how similar are the clips?

The more you watch it, the funnier and more comparable the two become.
