Chicago Bears RB D’Andre Swift’s 7-word message before contract season

Running back D’Andre Swift is entering the final season of his three-year contract with the Chicago Bears. All offseason, he has put in the work to make sure it counts.
The 2026 season will mark Swift’s seventh in the NFL. But the running back still thinks he hasn’t fully scratched the surface of his ceiling, via Natalia Spala of NBC Chicago.
“I feel like I’m just getting started,” Swift said.
After shining in the #Bears offense a season ago, D’Andre Swift followed it up with what he called a “complete camp.”

In head coach Ben Johnson’s first year calling the plays, the Bears utilized a running back tandem of Swift and Monangai. That helped Chicago rank third in rushing, averaging 144.5 yards per game. Entering the 2026 season, Johnson will employ the same strategy.
Monangai’s introduction to the offense didn’t diminish Swift’s contributions. Instead, the running back had the best season of his six-year NFL career. Knowing that he will soon cash in, Swift is looking to match and surpass his numbers from 2025.

In Chicago’s run to the playoffs, Swift turned 223 carries into a career-high 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns. Ironically, he surpassed the 1,049 yards and five touchdowns he put up in 2023. And yet Swift was a Pro Bowler then and not now.
Ultimately though, Swift doesn’t need the accolades to prove his worth to the Bears. The pieces are now in place for him to continue his torrid run. Johnson’s big-play offense is predicated on establishing the run game. Furthermore, the Bears have invested heavily in their offensive line.
If Swift has another impressive season, his price tag will only go up. But for now, the Bears are focused on him simply leading their rushing attack. Swift is on board and prepared for another breakout campaign.
