Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears are just over a week away from starting their 2026 regular season. They held a practice session on Friday, and clip of him watching intently turned a lot of heads on social media. He also shared a teaching moment with offensive lineman Jonah Jackson.

Johnson is entering his second year with the team after he was hired in January 2025. He silenced his doubters by guiding Chicago to an NFC North title and reaching the Divisional Round in his debut campaign. The 40-year-old proved that he deserves to be an NFL head coach and worked like a seasoned tactician.

The upcoming campaign is crucial for him and the Bears. Expectations are high, but the have a chance to show the football world that last season’s success is not a fluke.

Chicago Bears: Fans react to Ben Johnson’s demeanor during practice

Johnson watched intently as the team ran drills and plays. He crossed his arms and observed his coaching staff and players, including Jackson who he gave some instructions to.

Fans dropped their reactions in the comments section.

“We really got the meanest dog on the block,” a fan said.

The Bears will open their regular-season slate on Sept. 13 against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. Their home opener follows in Week 2 versus the Minnesota Vikings. The team addressed positional needs in the offseason, with the front office bringing in key veterans in free agency and rookies via the draft. Johnson and Co. have their sights set on surpassing last year’s success, setting their sights on at least a deeper playoff run.
