Fever announce Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston development for Team USA

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston are playing key roles for Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. The Indiana Fever stars are receiving ample playing time from Kara Lawson, and they are proving their worth. The Fever announced and reacted to a national team development on Sunday.

Clark has had an up-and-down tournament so far. She made history in her debut game, recording the most assists by a USA player in her first appearance at the World Cup. She finished the matchup against China with 14 points and 11 assists despite coming off the bench. However, she struggled mightily against Italy. The 24-year-old registered just one point on 0-of-6 shooting, failing to convert any of three three-point attempts.

Boston, on the other hand, produced seven points, two rebounds, one steal and one block on Friday. She followed it up with six points and three rebounds in the 55-52 win over the Italians two days later.

Indiana announced on X that Team USA has advanced to the quarterfinals. They also gave a shout out to their All-Star duo in helping the team remain undefeated through two games.

“Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark & @usabasketball are 2-0 at the World Cup and have punched their ticket to the Quarterfinals ,” the Fever wrote.

Next up for the Americans is a clash with Czechia on Monday. While they are already through to the knockout stage, winning their third straight game is crucial. It would give them even more momentum and belief that they can sweep the World Cup. The tournament’s quarterfinals is set for Thursday, and the semifinals scheduled on Friday. The gold media game will be played on Sept. 13. Clark, Boston and Team USA are heavy favorites to win their fifth consecutive world championship.
