Caleb Williams has embraced the Chicago. The Chicago Bears quarterback supports the city’s other professional teams like the Cubs, and shares a close friendship with Pete Crow-Armstrong. He was in attendance at Wrigley Field on Thursday, sitting with the crowd despite his popularity. He addressed his decision on Tuesday.

The Cubs won 2-1 over the Milwaukee Brewers to avoid a three-game sweep in the series. Williams’ attendance may have inspired the team to play better as it previously lost two consecutive games. Crow-Armstrong led the way by recording his 39th home run of the season, while Kevin Gausman threw seven sharp innings. They now have an 81-64 record and currently second in the NL Central.

Meanwhile, Williams and the Bears will begin their 2026 regular season on Sunday. They will visit the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium before a three-game homestand at Soldier Field. Chicago will take on the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets in Weeks 2, 3 and 4.

Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams shares why he sat with fans during Cubs game

Williams addressed reporters on Tuesday. He was asked why he decided to sit in the stands and not in a suite.

“The boxes are open to and I like being out and been out with the people,” Williams said. “Supporting one of my friends, Cubby Pete. So it was just a kind of spur of the moment, wanted to sit out there.”

His decision shows a lot of humility in him, especially being the popular athlete that he is. Williams endeared himself even more to Bears fans last season for his strong performances. He led the team to an NFC North title with an 11-6 record and reached the Divisional Round.

Williams and his teammates are hungrier this year and aim to surpass last year’s achievements. The schedule is not in their favor, but that will take on the challenge head-on.
