Chicago Bears, Colston Loveland

Colston Loveland proved in his rookie season that he belongs in the NFL. The Chicago Bears tight end impressed his coaches, analysts and teammates, including Luther Burden. He also further developed in the offseason, making him a huge problem for opposing teams.

The 22-year-old recorded 58 receptions for 713 yards and six touchdowns in 2025. He emerged as one of Caleb Williams’ favorite targets and earned more playing time as the season progressed. Loveland showcased his elite route running, strong hands and ability to break off tackles throughout the year. He was integral in Chicago winning the NFC North with an 11-6 record and reaching the Divisional Round.

Loveland enters this season as the team’s TE1. Cole Kmet will also likely play a significant number of snap, but the second-year star will see more targets than he had last year.

Luther Burden speaks highly of Colston Loveland

Burden expects Loveland to elevate his game further. He also sees him causing a lot of matchup issues for their opponents.

“Breakout year,” Burden said. “Because I see a breakout for him. He’s a problem. A lot of teams going to know about him.”

The Bears have a good mix of veterans and young stars. Loveland is at the forefront of the young players hungry to achieve a lot of success early in their careers. He is 6-foot-6 and has the combination of size and speed that will be one of the team’s biggest weapons for years to come.

Chicago will play their first game of the season on Sunday. It will take on the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium before its home opener in Week 2 versus the Minnesota Vikings. Two more home games follow against the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets. Starting the year strong is crucial, and Loveland will play a big role in achieving it.
