Chicago Bears sign D’Andre Swift to $33.75 million contract extension

When fans and pundits talk about the Chicago Bears offense, the focus has been on quarterback Caleb Williams and the passing game. But Chicago’s rushing attack can’t be underrated, as they finished 2025 ranked third, averaging 144.5 yards per game on the ground.

Starting running back D’Andre Swift obviously played a big role in that success. Now, he has been rewarded, as the Bears signed him to a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“RB D’Andre Swift and the Chicago Bears have reached agreeement on a 3-year, $33.75 million extension that includes $27.5M guaranteed,” Schefter wrote. “This is now Swift’s third NFL contract. Trevon Smith and David Mulugheta of Athletes First and the Bears just wrapped up the deal with the regular season’s start looming.”

Swift was entering the final season of his original three-year contract with the Bears. Head coach Ben Johnson and company clearly liked what they saw in the running back. Now locked in for the next three years, Swift will remain a focal point of Chicago’s ground game.

Chicago Bears lock in on D’Andre Swift 

Over his two years with the Bears, Swift has rushed for 2,046 yards and 15 touchdowns, adding another 685 yards and a score through the air. In 2025, he set new career-highs with 1,087 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He adjusted quickly to Johnson’s scheme.

Now, he is a part of Chicago’s two-headed monster with former seventh-round pick Kyle Monangai. That tandem helped lead the Bears to their top five rushing finish. Johnson will continue to call their name as he orchestrates what he hopes is an explosive offense.

Swift has now found his home in the NFL. The Bears are fully confident in him as their lead runner. And in turn, Swift clearly believes in what is brewing in the Windy City.
