The Chicago Bears won their season opener last Sunday, with Caleb Williams delivering a strong performance. He took two sacks but remained focus on leading the team to victory. During his media availability on Thursday, the star quarterback shared an health update.

Williams completed 21-of-29 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns in the 59-37 win. He added 10 rushing attempts for 65 yards and two more scores. The 24-year-old once again showed his cool demeanor in high-pressure situations, making the right plays when it mattered the most.

He barely saw action in the preseason, appearing in only one drive. There were questions about his conditioning entering the Week 1 matchup but he answered them all with his production. Many are now considering him an early MVP candidate.

Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams provides health status entering Week 2

A reporter asked Williams how he feels ahead of Chicago’s Week 2 game. He emphasized that he is in good shape and that he aims to remain healthy throughout the campaign.

“First game, feeling good,” Williams said. “First time getting hit in 280 some days, I think. Felt good. Definitely felt good. Body was feeling slim. I’m moving well, feeling well, joints and things like that. I know I’m sounding like I’m old when I’m young, but when you start packing on a little weight, it gets a little rough. Like I said, I feel good, feel slim, feel smooth in my movement and you want to keep that up throughout this part.”

Williams and the Bears are back in action on Sunday for their season opener. They will host the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field with a chance to improve to 2-0. Two more home games follow as they’re set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets in Weeks 3 and 4. Chicago will visit its rivals, the Green Bay Packers, in Week 5 at Lambeau Field.
