Chicago Bears WR punished by NFL for actions in win over Panthers

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson bragged about his offense in training camp, and his players backed him up in a 59-37 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.
But one player was punished by the NFL for doing a little too much talking on the field.
Per the NFL, wide receiver Jahdae Walker was fined $5,620 for taunting the Panthers in the fourth quarter. Walker recorded one reception for one yard and a touchdown against the Panthers. He wasn’t the only player fined on Saturday from the game.
Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown was fined $17,911 for a late hit of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. It’s nice to finally see the league try and protect the young quarterback.
Chicago Bears WR Jahdae Walker had a big Week 1
Walker played a physical game for the Bears in Week 1. In addition to scoring the touchdown, Walker made some key blocks for the running game, something he told reporters is key to get more targets in the future.
“Oh shoot, [Johnson] just says, ‘no block, no rock’ and that just gets us going because we all want the ball,” Walker said, via ESPN. “So that’s pretty much all we be thinking about. It’s just you got to buy into it or you’re going to get left.”
The Bears are set to play a much more feisty contest when they host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The two NFC North rivals will have a much anticipated matchup between Johnson’s explosive offense and Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ stingy defense.
Expect more fireworks and fines to come from Sunday’s game.
