Kelsey Mitchell continued her historic season on Friday. The Indiana Fever star set a new WNBA record in the team’s win over the Toronto Tempo, and the league had a one-word reaction to it.

She finished with a game-high 33 points, along with two rebounds and two assists in the 103-85 victory. Mitchell shot 12-of-17 from the field, including 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. Her strong performance allowed her break A’ja Wilson’s previous mark for most points in a single season. Mitchell now has 1,034 with still three games left.

Caitlin Clark poured in 28 points, six rebounds and 14 assists, while Aliyah Boston and Myisha Hines-Allen combined for 17 points. The team improved to 27-14 for the season and remain in fifth place in the standings.

Indiana Fever: WNBA reacts to Kelsey Mitchell’s feat

The WNBA posted a video of Mitchell from different moments on Friday. It started with her tunnel walk where she looked relaxed and ready to perform at the highest level again. The clip also featured her on the court, scoring in different ways and showcasing her elite skill set.

“HERSTORYYYY 👑,” the WNBA wrote.

Wilson set the previous record with 1,001 points in the 2024 season. Mitchell has a chance to add more to her total as Indiana battles for a top-three seed. The team will next face the Washington Mystics on Sunday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Another home game follows versus the Minnesota Lynx before it wraps up its regular season at Target Center, also against the Lynx.

Mitchell already made history twice earlier this year. She set a new mark for most consecutive 20-plus point regular-season games and the most consecutive in a single campaign. The four-time All-Star has been a big reason for the Fever’s huge turnaround. They started by splitting their first 10 games but have since won 22 of their last 31 matchups.
