WNBA announces Angel Reese news on Saturday

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream are coming off their third consecutive win on Saturday. They defeated the Chicago Sky at home 106-81 and the star forward made history again. The WNBA announced it on social media.

Reese finished with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, along with 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks. Allisha Gray backed her with 17 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Rhyne Howard produced 14 points and four rebounds. Jordin Canada added 11 points and 10 assists.

The Sky, on the other hand, were led by Gabriela Jaquez’s 14 points and three rebounds. Kamilla Cardoso, Aicha Coulibaly and Courtney Vandersloot combined for 32 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. However, their production wasn’t enough to losing their fifth straight game.

WNBA posts Angel Reese development on social media

Reese reached the 500-rebound mark this season, becoming the first player in WNBA history to achieve the feat. The league posted the news on X and has since been viewed almost 800,000 times.

“FIVE. HUNDRED. REBOUNDS. Angel Reese becomes the first player in WNBA history to reach 500 rebounds in a single season!” the WNBA wrote.

The 24-year-old is fresh off a gold medal run with Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. She played an instrumental role despite coming off the bench in all six games. Reese successfully showcased her elite skill set, particularly rebounding, on the international stage.

Atlanta has two games left on its regular-season schedule. Reese has a chance to add on to her record, and the league’s 44-game slate will help her build on it. She and her team will next face the New York Liberty twice. Both games are scheduled to be held at Barclays Center on Tuesday and Thursday.

The Dream are in a tight race with the Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever for the No. 3 seed. They are currently fourth in the standings with a 28-13 record, with the Fever half-a-game behind and the Aces half-a-game in front. Reese and Co. own the tiebreaker over Caitlin Clark and her team.
