The biggest story following the Chicago Bears’ brutal week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings is the heartbreaking injury of star quarterback Caleb Williams.

Williams went down with a non-contact injury during the fourth quarter of the game. While sliding down, Williams appeared to be in severe pain. The quarterback was then carted off and did not return to finish the game.

It seemed the injury could’ve been as severe as an Achilles injury, but then it was reported as a hamstring injury. While an MRI is set for Monday, there are now reports of optimism for the Chicago Bears quarterback.

NBC’s Mike Florio gave a very optimistic update regarding Williams during Football Night in America.

Florio is reporting that there is optimism within the Bears organization that the hamstring injury isn’t as severe. Reportedly, the injury could be as low as a “grade one hamstring strain”.

A grade one strain would mean Williams would likely miss Week 3’s showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, but could return for potentially Week 4 against the New York Jets or even Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears will find out a for sure update on Monday morning following the MRI. Currently, this is a very encouraging sign for the team’s franchise quarterback.
