‘Praying for Caleb’: Colston Loveland reacts to unfortunate Bears development

The Chicago Bears grabbed a lot of headlines on Sunday after Caleb Williams suffered a hamstring injury. It occurred with 7:27 left in the fourth quarter of the team’s 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Many have reacted to seeing the star quarterback get hurt, including Colston Loveland after the game.

Chicago struggled on offense all game long and the defense shut them down in the last three quarters. Only Cairo Santos put points on the board for the team, and his field goal came in the first period. Williams completed 15-of-26 passes for 138 yards against one interception and three sacks.

Loveland, on the other hand, once again had a disappointing performance. Although he registered his first reception of the campaign, it was for only three yards and did not record another catch.

ESPN’s Jeff Joniak caught up with Loveland before he left Soldier Field. The reporter asked him how he felt when Williams got hurt. Loveland admitted that it was hard seeing the star quarterback go down but he and his teammates continued to battle without him.

“It’s tough, man,” Loveland said. “I’m praying for Caleb. He’s a warrior, and he’ll battle through whatever he’s got going. But like you said, we had a game to finish, and Caleb wouldn’t want us sitting there worried about him. So we’ve got to go finish it.”

“Just a sloppy day … a lot of things we’ve got to clean up.”

Williams will undergo a series of tests on Monday to determine the severity of his hamstring injury. Tyson Bagent will likely start in his place should he miss time. The Bears’ next game in on Sept. 28 on “Monday Night Football” against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia. They will also play their Week 4 game at Soldier Field versus the New York Jets before visiting the Green Bay Packers the following week.
